The new Kundig Master – a basic model with big capabilities
The new Kundig Master has enjoyed a very successful launch across Europe with the UK market attracting a particularly high level of attention. The idea of a basic model, which is as cost-efficient as possible, had been discussed and developed for many years.
However, due to the high requirements demanded, Kundig wanted to ensure the project wasn’t rushed, as CEO Lukas Kündig explains: “It may sound a bit cliché, but we don’t make any compromises when it comes to our core qualities, i.e. highest possible sanding quality, generations of durability and ease of operation.”
Relocating production to the East was out of the question, so the company had to find other ways of making this model to ensure it met market expectations. On one hand, the Master is strictly based on serial production; and on the other, the focus of the equipment is on details, which are essential for the production of perfect surfaces.
The features are surprisingly extensive: the sanding units combine a calibration roller and electronically controlled sanding pad, which has been tried and tested thousands of times. Workpiece detection is only 35mm wide over the entire 1,350mm working width.
In terms of robustness and durability, the Master is in no way inferior to the other ranges. Like all Kundig sanding machines, it features head movement, meaning that compared to models with conventional table adjustment, the Master can be loaded with higher workpiece weights, while maintaining its precision more reliably as well as offering the advantages of a constant pass line.
In contrast to higher model ranges, the operating unit is the previous generation model. Nevertheless, settings can be made within seconds and the control is always quick and intuitive, which is typical of all Kundig machines.
